The West Coast Drive; Trip of a LIFETIME

At the end of September my husband and I flew out to San Francisco to do the West Coast Drive. This is something we've wanted to do together for years and was probably the best holiday we've ever been on. I recorded a tonne of footage but all of it is on my GoPro as at the moment I'm lacking a computer powerful enough to handle the editing (I'm using a tablet!). I need to see if I can borrow a PC from somebody. We started the holiday with a few days in San Francisco and did pretty much every touristy thing out there. We rode the tram, walked down to Pier 39, took a tour around the Redwood Parks and crossed the Golden Gate Bridge. I love San Francisco and it's just as magical every time I'm lucky enough to visit. Amazing seafood too! We picked up a Convertible Mustang (*ladyboner*) from the city centre and headed down the coast to Monterrey. Monterrey Aquarium is the best aquarium in the world and I can't rate it highly enough- definitely worth a visit if you can make it!

We drove down to Los Angeles which I hated. The city is essentially a carpark at any time of day and it feels completely unsafe. A guy dressed as Spiderman put his hand in my handbag outside the Chinese New Theatre and then legged it when we confronted him. Nothing was stolen thank GOD, but I couldn't wait to get out of there. If you're a wannabe male model who dresses like a club promoter then LA may be your mecca. The one saving grace for LA was the Griffith Observatory which was incredible. The walk to the Observatory alone is stunning (go at sunset!) and from the museum you can get a completely unhindered view of the Hollywood sign which is difficult to get from the streets below.

We headed from LA to Las Vegas and met up with some of my husbands best buds at the MGM Grand. I am not a gambler so I really wasn't sure how I was going to feel about Vegas, but I had the best "club night" of my life there at Hakkasan seeing The Chainsmokers for my husbands' 30th. I don't know whether it was the company or the oxygen pumps but I will remember that night forever.

After a few hungover days in Vegas we drove up to Yosemite National Park via Lone Pine (I had the best steak of my entire life in a tiny restaurant called Seasons in Lone Pine. Go there. I mean, you'll never go there because it's in the middle of nowhere, but go there.) and stayed in Yosemite for a couple of nights. We stayed in a hotel called Tenaya Lodge on the South side of the park and this was my favourite hotel. The rooms were clean and spacious and the hotel had great facilities and views. The staff were friendly and the gift shop was full of crap (which obviously I loved). Finally, we headed to Napa Valley to visit a stunning vineyard called Sterling Vineyard. It was beautiful to see the birthplace of my God; Pinot Grigio.

I was worried that the drive would be difficult but it's not really comparable to a 14 day trip around the motorways of Britain. We saw the most amazing things just by stopping on the side of the road on a whim. I'm going to make it my mission to get the GoPro footage edited so that I can post it. Never had such a strong case of post-holiday blues. I heart America <3
