15 Minute Makeup: August

We've all been in a situation where you need to go from bed to bar in a very short space of time. Maybe I decided that I wasn't going out and then changed my mind last minute. Maybe I decided to nap and the nap turned into a full-blown snooze sesh. I am really good at doing my makeup really bloody quickly because I have such a short attention span when it comes to getting ready. I thought I'd share a really simple and easy look that I've loved ever since I got my Urban Decay NAKED2 Basics Palette...

Everything I used is in this photo. The candle is there for aesthetics only; do not use the candle on your face.

I started off by applying MAC Mineralize concealer under my eyes and on any blemishes. Blend this quickly with your finger by patting rather than rubbing. Then I applied MAC Mineralize Moisture Foundation with SPF 15 evenly to my entire face with a liquid foundation brush. I love liquid foundations with SPF included as I burn so easily, but also because they smell so nice! Next I applied bareMinerals Matte powder (the colour I use is called Fairly Light N10 and it's perfect) on top using a big powder brush. I find that MAC liquid foundations are very dewy and need a loose powder on top but that you can end up looking like you put your face into the bin at the Benefit counter if you layer too much powder over a MAC foundation. The bareMinerals powders are so light and they last forever as well.

Next I applied the Urban Decay Eyeshadow Primer Potion on my eyelids with my finger tip for the sake of speed. Again, pat the primer onto your eyelids being careful not to get any product underneath your eyes (this will hold on to any loose eyeshadow that falls down later on- not a good look) and wait 10 seconds for it to 'sink in' a bit.

I've been addicted to my NAKED2 palette since I got it. The shades are incredibly rich and also last for such a long time without any need for toilet-touch-ups (WINK). I used 'Cover' on my eyelids and blended 'Stark' up to just below the browline. These eyeshadows are so easy to blend (even for a n00b like me) and they don't tend to drop down onto your cheeks as you apply them. I do find that I need to press the darker shades on rather than brushing horizontally to get an even cover.

Yes. I have used my cat as a stand here.

Once my eyeshadow was blended I took my Stila Stay All Day Waterproof Liquid Eyeliner and drew a very thin line from around half an inch inside the inner corner of my eye out to the edge of my lashes. The Stila liquid liner is incredible. I use Intense Black. The liner is so easy to apply and it lasts for hours. You can use it to create a very thin line which is perfect for me as I'm not a fan of huge thick liquid eyeliner and elaborate wings.

Next I took a Bobbi Brown Long Wear Eye Pencil in 'Jet' and applied it to my waterline (top and bottom) before quickly smudging it with an angled eyeliner brush.

Top this look off with a few quick lashings of Benefit, They're Real! mascara in Beyond Black which takes mere seconds to apply. Finally, whack a bit of colour on your lips. I used Rimmel Apocalips in '101 Celestial' but I do find that it doesn't stay on for too long and you do need to reapply it a few times throughout the night. I've got a Benefit lipstick on the way from FeelUnique and I'm hoping that will be better. Voila, you're done! This whole process actually took me less than 15 minutes because I'm really not precious when it comes to applying foundation.
