They are actually located in the building I work in which is in Reading, Berkshire so I phoned down and spoke to a guy called Dan (or Dave?) to get somebody to pop out to my car which was conveniently sleeping in the underground carpark outside :)
This is the first experience I've had of these guys other than using their website to get a quick pricing estimate and to be fair the sales guy was friendly and eager and offered to pop out to my car with me straight away. He spent a few minutes wandering around the outside making note of any scratches or dents (I MIGHT have accidentally reversed into a tree one time) and then took the keys to turn the engine on and make sure it actually started. He didn't spend much time inside the car but the interior of mine is pretty good anyway as I'm the only owner it's ever had and I don't drive it often.
The specification of the car is as follows:
- Citroen C1
- 38000 miles
- Very well treated
- One owner from new
- Full service history
- 3 doors
- Full MOT (valid for 10 months remaining)
- No claims against (ever)
- HPI compliant
- A medium scratch to the rear driver side (tree - whoops)
- Tiny scratches in both bonnet and bumper from normal wear and tear
We then popped into his office and he spent around 5 minutes inputting all of the 'dent data' into his computer before giving me a final price of just over £2000. This was probably the lowest offer I'd received for it but to be honest I didn't expect it to be much higher because the whole premise of what they do is based on the fact they will take your car from you quickly and without hassle but will tend to pay greatly less than it is worth.
I don't think I'll go with the offer as a few garages in town have offered me up to £1k more for the vehicle but it's useful to have a print out of the offer they have made so that you have a firm price in your mind that you won't drop below. For somebody like me with very little experience of selling cars and even less knowledge about the car itself this can be very useful and it barely took 15 minutes out of my day.
Dave (or Dan) was realistic about the offer and even suggested that I try using AutoTrader first, but said to give him a call if he could be of any further help or even if I just wanted some advice around selling the car which was really lovely of him and a clever bit of value add.
All in all, I think it's worth a visit to We Buy Any Car just to see what they can offer because the service is great and they may just surprise you with an offer that works for you.
